My name is Joseph Andreula.
I believe in finding your purpose in life and doing whatever it takes or you feel inside to fulfill it. I believe in the human spirit and am amazed at how strong and capable we are when confronted with challenges and opportunities.
I am on the Fitness Standards Council as a committee member of the International Advisory Panel. The Fitness Standards advisory panel includes several experienced and highly knowledgeable and respected individuals in the fitness and wellness community worldwide, including Matt Brzcyki (Princeton University), Ellington Darden, Ph.D., Amy Philpott (Health & Fitness Professionals Association), Jacqueline Carter (California State University), Dr. Robert Kudlak, M.D., Dave Smith, Ph.D. (Chester College of Higher Education), Kevin Fontaine, Ph.D. (Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine), Mark J. Occhipinti (AFPA), Brian D. Johnston (IART), and Joseph Andreula (gym entrepreneur).
I have written for numerous International fitness magazines such as Exercise for Men, Mens Health, Rodale, Best Body for Women and Mens Fitness Magazine. My most popular article was the biggest spread in the history of Exercise for Men “The Boxing Workout” and one of the most controversial articles of all time “Should You Train To Failure” which was also featured in Exercise For Men.
I opened CKO Kickboxing originally in Hoboken, NJ as Take It To The Max in November 1997. I designed and created the workout, which was the first of its kind. CKO Kickboxing became so popular in Hoboken, that by 2004 nine additional locations opened throughout NJ and NY. In the summer of 2005 CKO Kickboxing opened the doors to its second Hoboken location. As of 2008 CKO Kickboxing is now a franchise with 20 locations. CKO Kickboxing has been recognized in several national fitness magazines.
In 1993 I was cutting high school to train with a trainer at a local gym to learn all I could about fitness. The dean of students realized what I was doing and a few weeks before high school graduation gave me the choice to attend all of my classes and graduate or to go train at the gym and be expelled from school. Of course I chose to train at the gym and pursue my dream. That choice did not make sense to a lot of people until years later when they saw me on National television on The NBC Today Show doing a segment as an entrepreneur who started with nothing but my dream.
